Palghar district authorities have approved compensation exceeding ₹2 crore per hectare for agricultural land acquired for the Vadhvan Port Project in Maharashtra. This package supports infrastructure development for the ambitious greenfield port, including vital road and rail connectivity.
Affected landowners receive double the fixed market value plus a 100% solatium, with 12% interest applicable from August 29, 2024. In Palghar taluka, base agricultural rates stand at ₹62.50 lakh per hectare, pushing totals to around ₹2.5 crore after additions. Dahanu taluka sees higher clusters, such as ₹1.16-1.22 crore base rates in villages like Varor and Bawde, potentially reaching up to ₹4.88 crore per hectare. Separate valuations cover structures, trees, wells, and borewells on the land.
The process follows a Central Government notification under the National Highways Act, 1956, targeting 24 villages across Palghar and Dahanu talukas. District Collector Indu Rani Jakhar emphasized transparency and speed, urging document submissions within 60 days to competent authorities. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has endorsed the awards.
The ₹76,220 crore Vadhvan Port, developed by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and Maharashtra Maritime Board, aims to rank among the world’s top 10 ports as a deep-draft facility. Land acquisition prioritizes connectivity to boost India’s maritime infrastructure.
