VOC Port Authority has reported steady growth in vessel traffic during the current financial year, handling 731 ship calls up to August 2025. This marks a 4.27% increase compared to 701 calls during the same period last year.

The growth underscores the Port’s rising importance as a key maritime gateway on India’s east coast. Officials attributed the increase to ongoing capacity augmentation, operational efficiency measures, and growing stakeholder confidence.

According to a VOC Port Authority spokesperson, the surge in ship calls is being driven by:

  • Enhanced cargo handling efficiency through modern equipment and upgraded berths.
  • Reduced vessel turnaround time supported by digital initiatives and process optimization.
  • Improved hinterland connectivity via strengthened multimodal logistics support.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining this momentum with ongoing infrastructure upgrades and customer-focused initiatives. With vessel traffic on the rise, VOC Port is poised to further consolidate its position as a strategic hub for India’s trade in the region.
