Susanta Kumar Purohit, IRSEE, Chairperson of VOC Port Authority, chaired a meeting with senior officials from MUR Shipping to review infrastructure and operational requirements for specialized cargo handling. The discussions focused on handling windmill blade generators, deploying high-capacity cranes capable of lifting 140-tonne machinery, and developing berth facilities to accommodate Panamax-class project cargo vessels.

The meeting highlighted the rising demand for advanced logistics solutions to support India’s renewable energy and heavy engineering sectors. Both parties agreed to explore collaborative initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and safety in project cargo handling at the port.
