V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority, Tuticorin, has reported robust growth in sulphuric acid traffic during the current financial year. From April to August 2025-26, the port handled 2,40,127 tonnes of sulphuric acid, up 14.14% from 2,10,371 tonnes in the same period last year.
The increase underscores the port’s enhanced operational efficiency, upgraded infrastructure, and rising preference among industries for liquid cargo movement through VOC Port. With specialised facilities and streamlined handling systems, the port has positioned itself as a dependable gateway for sulphuric acid shipments catering to regional industrial demand.
Port officials said the growth reflects VOC Port’s expanding role as a strategic hub for liquid cargo on India’s east coast, further strengthening its contribution to trade and industry.
