Geopolitical flare-ups in West Asia have disrupted Indian exports, leaving approximately 2,300 TEUs stranded at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and Mundra, primarily bound for Red Sea and Gulf destinations.

Shipping lines like Maersk and MSC have rerouted vessels around Africa, inflating freight rates by 200-300% and delaying textiles, pharma, and agri-exports critical to India’s $100B+ annual trade with the region.

Industry leaders urge government intervention for insurance relief and alternative routing, as diversions strain port capacities and inland logistics chains.
