[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) intends to create a ‘servicing hub’ that provides skilled workforce for manufacturing sector and equipped workforce for Information Technology and Bio Technology Sector, officials informed.

Notably, the Chhattisgarh Government has allotted Sector 5 in Naya Raipur for setting up of non polluting industrial projects. A mega Multi-Modal Logistic Park (MMLP) is currently also under construction spread in an area of 103 acres with an investment of Rs 207 crore in Naya Raipur, officials informed.

Notably, the MMLPs in Telangana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand are being developed by Central public sector undertaking Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR).

As part of the National Perspective Plan, prepared under the Sagarmala Programme of the Union Ministry of Shipping, a total of seven MMLPs were proposed in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Telangana, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.

The potential sites were identified based on comprehensive study of the container cargo movement across the country and are located in the proximity of important industrial clusters. This will be advantageous for the transportation of containerised cargo, officials informed.

Taking this forward, CONCOR officials have informed that domestic operations have already commenced at 1 MMLP in Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and MMLPs at 4 proposed locations- Nagulapally (Telangana), Siliguri (West Bengal), Naya Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Jharsuguda (Odisha), which are under development stage.

For the other 2 locations – North Madhya Pradesh / Chhattisgarh border (Singrauli) and Nagaur (Rajasthan), action will be initiated with a detailed area-wise analysis.

A total of 117 Industrial Entrepreneurs Memorandum (IEM) were filed in Chhattisgarh with the proposed investment of Rs 36,511 crore during 2015-16 as on December 2015.

This is in comparison to 37 IEMs filed with the proposed investment of Rs 1,62,584 crores during financial year 2014-15, the annual report 2015-16 of the Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy (DIPP) has mentioned.

Chhattisgarh intends to offer renewable energy equipment market for solar photo voltaic equipment worth Rs 32,000 crores during the next five years to investors who decide to establish projects in the State, they stated.

The Government is also promising abundant and easy access to raw materials that go into equipment manufacturing for renewable energy sector.

Notably, a host of key Chinese companies from Zhengzhou city of Henan province in China signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) worth 945 million USD (approx Rs 6,600 Crore) for setting up a wide set of industrial projects in Chhattisgarh during Chief Minister Raman Singh’s week-long tour to China recently.

As per the MoUs, Chinese companies will primarily invest in manufacturing of solar power equipment, railway and building construction material sectors in Chhattisgarh.

Notably, the Chhattisgarh Government has commenced the process of setting up the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at Sector-22 of the new capital.

Notably, the Chhattisgarh government will also be setting up an IT SEZ in the vicinity of the EMC to be established at Sector 22 in the new capital.

The EMC would be at located about 7 kms from the Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur. The site enjoys abundant water supply from the Mahanadi river and also have also sufficient power connection to cater the needs of operation in EMC, officials stated.

The location of the EMC is at Tuta village of Naya Raipur . The chief promoter of the project is Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) and the project is to be established in an area measuring 70 acres.

As of now, there is minimal presence of Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in the State. However, with its inherent strengths, the State has immense potential to become an ESDM hub of the country, officials stated.

Chhattisgarh has emerged as a lucrative investment hub among its competing states with sectors like power, mining and minerals, manufacturing, sponge iron and steel, IT/ITes, biotechnology, food processing, etc. becoming key investment drivers and has attracted both domestic and foreign investment over the past few years, officials informed.

The State is steadily garnering support from the investors, transforming it to a manufacturing and power hub of the country. While the State administration is based in Raipur, a new capital for Chhattisgarh at Naya Raipur has been developed.

Chhattisgarh is poised to become the next ESDM hub of India with the availability of enabling infrastructure, minerals and talent pool.

The proposed EMC is aimed at providing one stop integrated facilities with manufacturing support, welfare and common infrastructure facilities to the prospective electronics manufacturing industries. The proposed EMC is envisaged to house world class eco system for electronics manufacturing industries.

Assessments of the key infrastructure availability in the catchment area of the Project Site suggest that the catchment region is well equipped with the sector enabling infrastructure.

Six-lane expressways provide easy access to the city. At present, access is through NH-43 at the south- eastern boundary and NH-6 at the northern boundary of Naya Raipur. Nearly 75.2 km of 4 lane/six lane roads have already been constructed. 61 km road network is under construction, officials stated.

The power requirement of Naya Raipur is to be met in three phases. The city is having an underground power distribution system along with SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system to have online monitoring and control of power supply.

Non-conventional and alternative energy resources are being used to the maximum. Street lighting is planed using latest technology with network control and LEDs. Solar power will be used widely in administrative buildings, street lighting and traffic signals, officials stated.

Two more new Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are currently being developed in Chhattisgarh for providing a major boost to industrial development in the State.

A Solar SEZ is being set up in Rajnandgaon which is being developed by Lanco Solar Private Ltd which is spread over 250 acres of the land.

The SEZ will cater to the solar equipment manufacturing industry. A 100 MWpA Polysilicon and wafer manufacturing facility by Lanco Solar Private Ltd. is already operational in the SEZ, officials informed.

Notably, the total exports from State’s already operational SEZ during 2014-15 stood at Rs 3.19 crore and Rs 1.84 crore in 2013-14.

Export Promotion Council for EoUs and SEZs (EPCES) has been undertaking several activities for enhancing exports as well as resolving issues concerning EoUs and SEZs.

The Central Government, on the basis of inputs/suggestions received from stakeholders on the policy and operational framework of the SEZ Scheme, periodically reviews the policy and operational framework of SEZs and takes necessary measures so as to facilitate speedy and effective implementation of SEZ policy, officials informed.

Notably, Chhattisgarh’s new hi-tech capital—Naya Raipur would also have an ‘Integrated Freight Complex’ spread in an area of 130.67 hectares, officials stated.

APPLE TO SET UP DISTRIBUTION CENTER IN INDIA
Apple is set to create a new distribution centre in India to consolidate its logistics and supply chain. This will be the first centre in India. Currently Apple products are brought to India via different cities such as Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. Each city has a different VAT rate and this causes discrepancy in prices. Further online retailers source their supplies from places with low VAT to gain a price advantage over brick and mortar retailers.

The distribution centre will be located in Bhiwandi and will be maintained and operated by logistics partner DB Schenker. The centre will enable Apple to stock adequately to ease operations and supplies.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
