The ‘Swachchta Pakhwada’ (Cleanliness fortnight) organized by the Mormugao Port from 16th March 2017 to 31st March 2017 is progressing well as per schedule and receiving overwhelming response from its Officers, staff and employees. On 21st March 2017, Shri G. P. Rai, Dy. Chairman Mormugao Port Trust led a contingent of around 100 volunteers including the Head of Departments, senior officers, staff and employees and undertook a massive cleanliness drive at the Headland Sada, Mormugao, Port Colony shopping complex area and its environs.

The group of port Officers and staff inspired by their Dy. Chairman undertook complete cleanliness of the surrounding area full of plastics and other material wastes. The waste material collected was well segregated and packed in garbage bags for systematic disposal. The cleanliness drive will continue on a regular basis bringing about an awareness of the ‘Swachta Pakhwada’ in the locality.
Another separate group of volunteers from the Traffic Department of the Port undertook a cleanliness drive in and around the ‘C Type’ staff residential complex of the Port and conducted the cleanliness drive later in the day. All the departments have also drawn up independent schedules for conducting cleanliness drives in various locations during the ‘Swachchta Pakhwada’ under the overall supervision of the Port Nodal Officer, Shri Guruling Gani.

The ‘Swachchta Pakhwada’ campaign undertaken by the Mormugao Port is drawing the attention of the local residents of Headland Sada area and creating a positive impact on the people towards their commitment in maintaining a clean and garbage free environment.
