Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) has handled its first machinery export consignment to Singapore from its Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Khodiyar near Ahmedabad, using containers from its own EXIM fleet.

The Navratna public sector undertaking announced the milestone on 30 September 2026, highlighting its ability to manage the shipment across the inland and international logistics chain.

What did CONCOR handle as part of the shipment?

CONCOR managed the consignment through an end-to-end logistics arrangement, beginning with collection from the customer’s premises.

The cargo was then stuffed and handled at ICD-Khodiyar before being moved by rail to the gateway port for onward shipment to Singapore.

The arrangement covered the movement from the factory gate through the inland terminal and rail network to the international ocean leg.

Why is the use of CONCOR’s own containers significant?

The use of CONCOR’s own EXIM containers allows the company to provide an integrated logistics service across the inland and international portions of the shipment.

By using its own container fleet, CONCOR can coordinate the movement from the exporter’s premises through the rail leg and onward ocean transportation, reducing the number of handovers between different logistics providers.

The company said the shipment demonstrates its ability to provide integrated logistics services through its container fleet and multimodal network.

What does this mean for exporters in Gujarat?

ICD-Khodiyar serves the manufacturing and industrial hinterland around Ahmedabad and provides rail connectivity for export-import cargo moving towards Gujarat’s gateway ports.

For machinery and engineering exporters, an integrated logistics arrangement can simplify coordination across cargo pickup, containerisation, inland rail movement and ocean shipping.

The shipment also highlights the role of inland container depots and rail-linked logistics networks in connecting Gujarat’s manufacturing centres with international markets.
