Summary

CONCOR has dispatched its first rake of Honda motorcycle containers from MMLP Kathuwas in Rajasthan, advancing the companies’ logistics partnership. The milestone accompanied discussions on warehousing, first- and last-mile transport and export-import services, following an earlier initiative to route Honda’s Tapukara export containers directly through the terminal.

First motorcycle container rake dispatched

The CONCOR Honda rail dispatch from Multimodal Logistics Park Kathuwas marks an operational step in the companies’ efforts to develop more integrated transport arrangements.

The first rake carrying Honda motorcycle containers departed from the Rajasthan facility, identified by terminal code CMLK. The development was reported on 24 October 2026.

CONCOR also hosted representatives from Honda’s export, domestic and finance teams for a strategic review at the logistics park. Discussions covered opportunities to coordinate transportation, storage and cargo movements across domestic distribution and international trade.

The announcement did not disclose the rake’s destination, container count, shipment value or transit schedule. It therefore establishes a first dispatch without confirming a regular service frequency or quantified logistics savings.

Earlier export initiative provides context

The latest movement follows a separate development reported earlier in October involving Honda Motorcycle’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.

That initiative introduced direct container export dispatches from the factory through ICD Kathuwas, replacing an earlier arrangement involving movement via Manesar and other inland container depots.

The initial export stream was expected to reach approximately 300 TEUs a month. An estimated potential of around 1,500 TEUs monthly was identified as a longer-term opportunity, rather than an achieved throughput figure.

Earlier discussions between the companies also considered warehousing, LNG-powered road haulage and shipping services.

The two developments concern different stages of the logistics chain: factory dispatches connect production with the inland terminal, while the latest rake adds rail movement from Kathuwas. The available announcements do not establish that both milestones involved the same containers.

Integrated services remain under discussion

The review at Kathuwas examined collaboration across warehousing, first- and last-mile mobility and EXIM operations.

For manufacturers, these functions influence how efficiently goods move between production, storage, inland terminals and onward transport. Coordinating them can help reduce scheduling gaps and improve shipment visibility.

However, the discussions represent areas being explored. The announcement does not specify a new warehousing contract, dedicated capacity commitment or comprehensive outsourcing agreement.

The immediate commercial significance is the addition of a completed rail movement around which the partners can assess further services. Any expansion will need to match shipment volumes, loading requirements and delivery commitments.

Kathuwas has an established freight-corridor role

Kathuwas’s role in rail-linked container logistics predates the Honda dispatch.

During the opening of the Rewari–Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor in January 2021, the Ministry of Railways identified Kathuwas as a terminal benefiting from the corridor connection.

A long-haul container train flagged off during that programme included cargo loaded at CONCOR’s Kathuwas siding and at Garhi Harsaru, with Mundra as its destination. Its cargo mix included manufactured products and automotive components.

That earlier operation demonstrates the terminal’s established function in connecting northern Indian production centres with gateway-port logistics.

It should be distinguished from the latest Honda movement, for which an onward port or final destination has not been disclosed.

Honda’s manufacturing plans add longer-term relevance

Honda’s investment plans provide a wider backdrop to logistics development in Rajasthan.

In March 2026, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India announced a third production line at Tapukara, scheduled to begin operations in 2028.

The planned line would add annual capacity of 670,000 units, taking the factory’s total capacity to 2.01 million units. Honda outlined investment of approximately ₹1,500 crore and expected employment creation exceeding 2,000 positions.

Those figures concern future manufacturing capacity. They do not establish how much additional cargo would move through Kathuwas or the share allocated to exports.

Nevertheless, growing production makes transport planning commercially relevant. Logistics arrangements developed before capacity comes on stream can be assessed against future distribution requirements.

For CONCOR and Honda, the next measure of progress will be repeat movements supported by dependable schedules, cargo handling and onward connections. The first rake provides an operational starting point for that assessment.
