Grimaldi Group’s Ro-Ro vessel Grande Shanghai made a landmark call at Mumbai Port, berthing at OCT-2, ICTPL. The vessel arrived carrying a large consignment of electric vehicle (EV) trucks shipped from China to Mumbai — one of the largest single-shipper EV shipments to call at the port to date.
Grande Shanghai discharged 876 units of EV truck chassis, amounting to approximately 53,800 CBM /8727 MT in volume — a record-setting figure for a single shipment of this nature. The vessel’s call was handled by Oasis Shipping Private Limited, a Samsara Group company, acting as Agents for Grimaldi Group (Grimaldi India Shipping Agency Pvt Ltd)
Strengthening India’s Presence
Since 2025, Grimaldi Group has maintained regular monthly call to the Port of Mumbai as part of its Europe–Asia service. While this route has recently been disrupted due to ongoing conflicts, Grimaldi has responded by introducing westbound calls connecting China to India and onward to the African, Europe, Australia and South America Markets.
Building on this momentum, Grimaldi Group has shown its presence locally in 2026 with the launch of Grimaldi India Shipping Agency .
Grimaldi Group has extended its China–Africa service to cover Pan-India ports, with the recent call to Mumbai reflecting the company’s continued commitment to serving its Indian customers. Grimaldi Group aims to further strengthen its footprint in the Indian market by increasing call frequency across its service network.
A Commitment to Sustainable Shipping
The arrival of Grande Shanghai also underscored Grimaldi Group’s environmental commitment. As one of the Group’s environmentally friendly vessels, its role in transporting EV vehicles aligns closely with the Government of India’s push toward sustainable and electric mobility — a milestone the Group is proud to highlight as it deepens its partnership with the Indian market.
