Gujarat Energy Limited has signed a 10-year agreement with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to procure up to four million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG), with deliveries beginning in 2028. Announced on 6 November 2026, the agreement marks the first sale of gas from the international portfolio of XRG, ADNOC’s overseas investment company.

The supply will come from XRG-owned production outside the Gulf through ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading platform. It is ADNOC’s fifth LNG supply agreement in India.

How much LNG will Gujarat Energy receive?

Gujarat Energy’s stock-exchange disclosure specifies procurement of approximately 0.4 million tonnes per annum from ADNOC Trading Limited. This corresponds to the announced maximum volume of four million tonnes over the agreement’s 10-year duration.

The filing confirms that pricing will be linked to the Henry Hub index. It does not disclose the complete pricing formula or a total contract value.

The agreement follows board approval on 5 November for long-term LNG sourcing arrangements with international suppliers. Gujarat Energy said the contract would strengthen energy security for its customers and support India’s wider supply requirements.

What is different about the supply arrangement?

The transaction extends ADNOC’s Indian supply relationships through its international portfolio. While earlier agreements with Indian buyers have drawn on production in the United Arab Emirates, this contract connects overseas production held by XRG with Indian demand.

ADNOC launched its global LNG marketing and trading platform in Abu Dhabi Global Market in July 2026. The platform has subsequently concluded agreements with INPEX in Japan, Gulf Group in Thailand and Gujarat Energy.

Its stated ambition is to market 47 million tonnes per annum of LNG beyond 2030. That figure is a portfolio target, separate from the volumes contracted to Gujarat Energy.

What does the pricing disclosure establish?

The Henry Hub linkage identifies the benchmark underlying the purchase arrangement, but it does not establish a fixed delivered price. The publicly available filing provides no detailed breakdown of additional charges or contractual adjustments.

For Gujarat Energy, the disclosed annual quantity establishes the scale of the long-term procurement commitment. The announcement also distinguishes a signed sales and purchase agreement from preliminary discussions or a non-binding expression of interest.

The filing identifies ADNOC Trading Limited as the contractual counterparty and describes the transaction as an international LNG procurement arrangement, without an equity investment or joint-venture component.

How does the deal build on earlier Indian contracts?

ADNOC’s Indian LNG relationships have expanded through several long-term agreements. In November 2024, GAIL (India) signed a 10-year sales and purchase agreement with ADNOC Gas for up to 0.52 million tonnes annually, with supplies scheduled to begin in 2026.

That agreement specified six cargoes each year from the Das Island liquefaction facility. GAIL described the purchase as part of its effort to enlarge its term LNG portfolio and serve demand across different customer sectors.

The GAIL arrangement provides a useful comparison: it identified both the annual cargo schedule and the supply facility, whereas the Gujarat Energy announcement identifies XRG’s international portfolio as the source.

ADNOC Gas also signed a separate 10-year agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited in January 2026, valued at between US$2.5 billion and US$3 billion.

HPCL said supplies under that contract would be received at its five-million-tonne-per-annum LNG regasification terminal at Chhara, Gujarat. That receiving arrangement belongs to the HPCL contract and has not been identified as the destination for Gujarat Energy’s newly contracted volumes.
