HAIAN introduces monthly direct container service from Chennai to Malaysia, Vietnam and China

Hai An Transport and Stevedoring JSC has announced a new monthly direct container service connecting Chennai with Malaysia, Vietnam and China, with Samsara Shipping Private Limited serving as the company’s General Agents in India.

Established in 2009 in Vietnam, HAIAN operates across the main fields of the maritime industry, including port operations, container sea transport and logistics services. Hai An is Vietnam’s leading container shipping company and ranks among the top 100 largest container fleets in the world, currently owning a fleet of 20 container ships with capacities ranging from 800 to 3,500 TEUs, for a total capacity of 33,000 TEUs, operating on domestic and intra-Asia routes.

Beyond container shipping, HAIAN has developed an integrated logistics network spanning port operations, container sea transport, depot and distribution centres, door-to-door logistics and trucking services, enabling the company to provide end-to-end solutions across the supply chain.

As part of its long-term growth and fleet expansion strategy, HAIAN is further strengthening its position in the regional container shipping market. The company has signed contracts for the construction of two 7,100-TEU container vessels, scheduled for delivery in June 2028 and September 2028. The addition of these larger vessels is expected to enhance HAIAN’s carrying capacity, expand its regional network, and support its ambition to strengthen its presence across the broader Asian container shipping market.

Effective October 1, 2026, HAIAN will deploy an approximately 1,700 TEU vessel for direct service on the rotation Chennai – Port Kelang – Haiphong – Nansha – Haiphong – Port Kelang – Chennai.
