Shipping and integrated logistics company J M Baxi said that a new rail service connecting the Delhi Inland Container Terminal (DICT) with Nhava Sheva has been inaugurated, strengthening rail connectivity between the National Capital Region and Maharashtra along the Dedicated Freight Corridor.
The inaugural train carried 90 twenty-foot-equivalent containers (TEUs) of rice for Emirates Line by J M Baxi. The cargo was moved for customer CAG Shipping, marking the launch of a service aimed at developing a regular rail corridor between the NCR and Nhava Sheva.
The new connection is expected to provide shippers with a reliable, efficient and competitive rail option for moving cargo between the NCR and India’s major container gateway at Nhava Sheva.
The service also highlights the growing role of the Dedicated Freight Corridor in strengthening integrated, multimodal logistics connectivity. The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor connects Dadri near Delhi with JNPA/Nhava Sheva, providing a dedicated route for freight movement.
J M Baxi said the initiative further strengthens the integration of rail, port and logistics services, while leveraging the advantages of the Dedicated Freight Corridor to facilitate faster and more dependable cargo movement across one of India’s key trade routes. The inaugural movement is expected to pave the way for regular rail services on the corridor, supporting trade flows between northern India and the western coast.
