J M Baxi Group is restructuring its leadership team for its Container Business, with Sunay Mukerjee appointed as Chief Operating Officer of J M Baxi Container Holdings Private Limited, effective September 28, 2026.
Mukerjee brings 23 years of experience across the liner shipping, ports and terminals sectors. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at a container terminal in Mumbai and has held leadership positions across Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa.
His experience covers strategy and transformation, sales, business development, procurement and general management.
As part of the transition, Capt. Alpesh Sharma, who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Container Business, will take up a newly created position as Regional President, Strategic Business Development, India & MEA, at J M Baxi Ports Services Private Limited.
Sharma has spent the past three years leading the Container Business and supporting its development across the group’s terminals, including Kandla International Container Terminal.
In his new role, Sharma will work with Dhruv Kotak, Managing Director, J M Baxi Group, on strategic business development and policy advocacy covering the Container and Core Businesses.
The leadership changes are intended to strengthen J M Baxi’s management structure and build capabilities to support its planned growth across its businesses.
