Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd (KMEW) has received a significant work order from Mumbai Port Authority (MbPA) for the chartering of a 60-ton bollard pull capacity new battery-operated electric green tug. The contract, valued at Rs 279.33 crore including GST, spans a period of 15 years.
This marks KMEW’s third Green Tug contract, reinforcing its position in India’s burgeoning green maritime sector. The company will leverage its subsidiary, Knowledge Shipyard Limited, for construction and will manage operations, maintenance and technical aspects.
The order aligns with India’s Green Tug Transition Programme and the Make in India initiative, showcasing KMEW’s integrated capabilities from shipbuilding to asset management.
