Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), is expanding its public transport and ground mobility network ahead of the Winter Schedule, which runs from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027.
The airport announced the expansion on October 5, with ground transport capacity being increased to 4,689 vehicles and services covering app-based taxis, buses, car rentals and autorickshaws.
Ground transport capacity
The expanded network comprises 3,787 app-based taxis, 547 buses, 184 car rental vehicles, and 171 autorickshaws.
NMIA is also strengthening passenger movement infrastructure through additional mobility signage, wayfinding systems and on-ground assistance. Dedicated zones have been designated for buses, shuttles, arrivals, departures and private vehicles.
Bus connectivity
Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) operates seven dedicated airport routes, A1 to A7, connecting Terminal 1 with Kharkopar, Targhar, Belapur, Nerul, Panvel, Khandeshwar and the Airport Project Office. Bus services between Belapur and Nerul operate every 15 to 20 minutes during peak periods.
Chalo Bus operates 21 daily services connecting NMIA with destinations including Marol in Andheri East, Bandra, Dadar and the World Trade Centre in Colaba.
The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is scheduled to begin e-Shivai electric bus services from NMIA on October 7. Fares will be Rs 450 to Pune, Rs 210 to Borivali and Rs 170 to Dadar East. Children below 12 years and women travelling with a National Common Mobility Card will be eligible for half-fare travel.
Services to Thane and Nashik are planned by mid-November.
Taxi services and airport connectivity
Bharat Taxi, Uber Go and Uber Premier will operate from designated pickup zones at the airport.
NMIA will also have a complimentary hourly shuttle service operated by Cityflo, Aarya and Chalo, connecting the new airport with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).
Rail connectivity
Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is already operational, providing rail connectivity within the region. Mumbai Metro Line 8 has been proposed to connect Navi Mumbai International Airport with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
Passenger and cargo capacity
The launch phase of Navi Mumbai International Airport is designed to handle 20 million passengers annually and 0.5 million tonnes of cargo, with the expanded ground transport network intended to support passenger movement as operations scale up.
