Export consignments from Telangana to the United Kingdom were flagged off from key logistics hubs, marking the operationalisation of the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). The move underscores growing bilateral trade ties and highlights the state’s role as an emerging export hub for agricultural and processed food products.
Flag-off of export consignments from Telangana
Export containers were formally dispatched from an Inland Container Depot in Hyderabad as part of the first set of shipments under the new trade pact. Senior state industry and commerce officials noted that the agreement represents a significant step forward in India–UK economic relations and is expected to benefit a wide spectrum of exporters. They emphasised that smoother access to the UK market, coupled with improved logistics connectivity from Telangana, will support higher export volumes in the coming months.
Officials highlighted that reductions in tariffs on a wide range of items would help make products sourced from Telangana more competitive in the UK market. This is likely to create fresh opportunities for export-oriented units in segments such as agri commodities, processed foods and other value-added products. Industry stakeholders present at the event underlined that the pact could encourage more companies in the state to explore global markets, particularly in Europe.
Parallel events and institutional participation
Parallel export flag-off activities were also organised in another district of Telangana to mark the agreement’s entry into force across multiple locations. District administration, officials from export promotion bodies and representatives from trade development authorities participated in these events to signal coordinated support for exporters. Consignments included rice and other food products being shipped by local enterprises under the new tariff and market access framework.
