PSA Mumbai, which operates Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Private Limited (BMCTPL) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), handled 312,179 TEUs in October 2026, its highest monthly container throughput. It beat the previous record of 303,032 TEUs, set in August 2026. The headline also reports a new weekly record, but I have no figures for it.
October record
The October volume is about 3% above the August record. Out of JNPA’s 8.65 lakh TEUs for October, the terminal handled about 36% by our calculation. JNPA’s October container traffic was up 27.05% year on year.
Weekly record
The weekly figure, the week it was set and the previous weekly best have not been supplied, so none is reported here.
Context
PSA Mumbai also signed a memorandum of understanding with CONCOR on 15 May 2026 on rail movement of domestic, coastal and customs-cleared export-import containers and on scheduled container trains between the terminal and CONCOR terminals, subject to operational feasibility and approvals. That is a separate agreement and is not tied to the October record.
What next
Points to watch are whether November holds throughput near this level, how yard and gate performance stays steady, and how rail and road evacuation cope with higher volumes.
