Transworld Shipping Lines has signed an agreement to acquire the dry bulk carrier SALTWIND EXPLORER for USD 16.5 million, strengthening its presence in the global dry bulk shipping market.
Transworld Shipping Lines Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to purchase the vessel SALTWIND EXPLORER from Saltwind Explorer Inc. for USD 16.5 million. The agreement was executed on October 19, 2026, and the company has disclosed the transaction to the stock exchanges under SEBI’s listing regulations.
The acquisition marks a renewed push by the Indian shipowner into the dry bulk segment. Transworld already owns and operates a fleet of 12 vessels, including 10 container feeders with about 22,000 TEU capacity and two handysize dry bulk carriers with about 69,000 DWT.
Fleet Renewal Strategy
The deal follows Transworld’s September 2026 agreement to acquire the bulk carrier Valsamitis for USD 11.75 million. That transaction was part of a broader fleet renewal strategy funded through proceeds from the sale of older vessels.
Between July and August 2026, the company sold SSL Brahmaputra for USD 11.40 million, SSL Kaveri for USD 16.40 million and SSL Visakhapatnam for USD 3.08 million. It also delivered SSL Mumbai to Avana Logistek on September 1, 2026.
Dry Bulk Expansion
Transworld’s renewed dry bulk focus also includes Transbridge Global FZCO, a dry bulk shipping pool launched with BainBridge Navigation. The platform is designed to offer vessel owners commercial management, global cargo access and transparent revenue distribution.
The latest acquisition could support Transworld’s positioning in the dry bulk market, where earnings are closely linked to commodity trade flows, vessel supply and spot freight-rate volatility. The company said the SALTWIND EXPLORER transaction is not a related-party deal and does not involve any shareholding in the seller.
