V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port) has recorded its highest-ever fertiliser dispatch by rail handled by a single agent, with Raja Agencies moving 6,376.900 tonnes of fertiliser in 100 wagons.
The consignment was dispatched to Haveri, Sannath Nagar, Bellari and Katpadi. It comprised diammonium phosphate (DAP), muriate of potash (MOP) and NPK fertilisers.
The movement marks a record for fertiliser dispatch by rail through VOC Port by an individual agent and adds to the port’s rail-based cargo handling activity.
Fertiliser Cargo Moves to Four Destinations
The 100-wagon consignment was transported by rail to four destinations, supporting the movement of fertiliser cargo from the port to markets in the hinterland.
Raja Agencies handled the record dispatch, while coordination among the port, rail logistics and other stakeholders enabled the movement of the consignment.
VOC Port has been focusing on rail connectivity as part of its cargo evacuation and logistics operations. Rail-based movement provides an alternative to road transportation for bulk and high-volume cargoes such as fertilisers.
The latest dispatch adds to the port’s efforts to increase the use of rail for cargo evacuation and improve the movement of essential commodities to inland destinations.
