Summary

X-Press Feeders’ new PFX service is reported to connect Port Qasim with Fujairah following an inaugural sailing from Pipavav. However, the carrier’s launch announcement lists a Pipavav–Fujairah rotation. The differing published descriptions mean customers should confirm voyage-specific port calls before making bookings.

Published rotations differ

The X-Press Feeders PFX service has entered the company’s regional network, with subsequent published sailings reported to show a Port Qasim–Fujairah–Port Qasim shuttle.

The service began with a sailing from Pipavav in India. The reported Pakistan–UAE operation deploys one vessel of approximately 1,700 TEUs and follows an approximately three-week rolling schedule.

However, X-Press Feeders’ own launch communication describes PFX as the Pipavav Fujairah X-Press, listing the rotation as Pipavav–Fujairah–Pipavav. It also identifies a rolling schedule rather than a fixed-day service.

Port Qasim provides an established cargo base

Port Qasim is an established industrial and maritime gateway for Pakistan, with infrastructure supporting containerised trade alongside other cargo streams.

DP World’s Qasim International Container Terminal has a published design capacity of 1.4 million TEUs annually. Its facilities include container stacking areas, refrigerated-container connections and equipment for ship-to-shore and yard operations.

The operator also identifies road and rail connections with Pakistan’s hinterland, together with empty-container storage and release facilities.

These provide relevant background to a feeder call at Port Qasim. They do not, however, establish which terminal or inland transport arrangement applies to every PFX booking. Those details require confirmation through the service’s operational information.

Fujairah offers an eastern UAE gateway

Fujairah’s location on the UAE’s eastern seaboard makes it an important setting for regional maritime services.

Fujairah Terminals, owned by AD Ports Group, operates under a 35-year concession covering container, general cargo, roll-on/roll-off and cruise activities.

Its published infrastructure includes annual container capacity of 720,000 TEUs, a 1,000-metre quay and 15 metres of depth alongside.

The multipurpose facility supports both regional and international customers. For feeder operators, such infrastructure provides a base for handling containers within a wider logistics network.

The PFX launch information does not identify dedicated terminal capacity or specify particular transhipment arrangements at Fujairah. Port capability and the commercial connections offered by an individual service remain separate considerations.

Earlier services strengthened Pakistan–UAE connections

The development follows other efforts to expand Pakistan’s feeder access to UAE ports.

In March 2026, Pakistan’s maritime affairs ministry announced a separate service connecting Karachi Gateway Terminal with Fujairah and Khor Fakkan.

The first vessel arrived at Karachi Gateway Terminal on 11 March. The government presented that connection as a means of maintaining access to regional and international container networks.

That earlier initiative concerns Karachi Port, rather than Port Qasim, and should not be confused with the reported PFX shuttle. It nevertheless provides context for the continuing development of feeder options between Pakistan and UAE gateways. pid.gov.pk
